I've been dealing with leaks in the well room this summer. Actually, just one leak - the first pic on left. So 2 weeks ago Craig came and pulled that section of pipe and replaced it along with a (my personal choice) a ball valve to replace the old 'gate' valve. (1st 2 pics on the right) I was a happy camper - for a couple of hours, anyway. Just before he left he helpfully tightened up the outside water cut-off valve when he heard that I get a few drips from that every now and then.
But later that afternoon I saw that it was dripping all the time now (3rd pic on left) - and there was another leak in another "T" joint (2nd pic on the left) - probably suffered from vibration, etc. from the sawing, etc. needed to replace the first leak in the system.
Well, like a lot of good plans - scope creep happened. The pipe from the holding tank was really corroded, the copper coming from the horizontal gate valve was in poor shape so they were replaced. AND, when he took off that horizontal piece of copper, I said to him, "You KNOW what this means, doncha?" He sighed. "Yeah." Yep, we were in a position to replace yet ANOTHER old gate valve with a new ball valve so off he went to get a new valve. LOL
I'm happy to report the pipes are dry, no leaks and there are now only 2 old gate-style valves in the system.
I'm still NOT happy that the original plumbers brought HARD WELL water to the cold water faucet in the kitchen instead of routing that from the SOFT water! Who wants hard/iron-y water in the kitchen anyway?? What were they THINKING? But that's a lot more work to fix and I'll just add it to 'future fixes' list.
At least NOW Craig and I can get back outside and work on that privacy fence extension! :-D
